Scandic Alvik first hotel in chain to be live with online check-in

On February 23rd we successfully delivered the first key to a guest who had used the advanced online check-in solution offered by Scandic to their Friends members. Scandic has offered online check-out across the whole chain of hotels since 2013 and the service is now expanded to also include check-in.

Friends members are automatically invited to online check-in early on the day of arrival. Guests are presented with a list of rooms and can make a selection based on their personal preference and taste. The pre-check-in is finalized after payment is completed and a message will be sent once the room is available.

The message includes a QR code to be used on the Duo 2020 keycard dispenser when arriving at the hotel. The Duo 2020 will retrieve the reservation, create keys and print vouchers once the QR code is scanned and verified.



The whole operation is quick and efficient and allows the guest to go straight to room without queuing in the reception to check-in.

Scandic Alvik is also one of the very first hotels to use the Duo 2020 keycard dispenser. This is an updated and enhanced version of the Duo 2000 that has been on the market for several years. The updated model has a much smaller footprint, improved QR code scanning, larger touch screen and can be fully customized to fit into any hotel environment. The Duo 2020 comes in versions for both magnetic and RFID keycards and is software configurable to work with any of the more than 30 different keycard systems we have integrations with.
