Introducing the Self-Service Kiosk: Convenient Solution for Lost or Misplaced Keycards
Kaba Access & Data Systems Americas, a leading electronic lock supplier for the multi-family housing market, has added the K-COD 200 self-service kiosk to complement its electronic lock products for the military housing market. The keycard self-service kiosk dispenses temporary keycards for unit locks to military residents and offers management an around-the-clock solution without around-the-clock staffing.
Together with Ariane Systems North America, a global leader in self-check solutions for the hospitality market, Kaba ADS Americas has developed custom software to integrate with Kaba's System 6000 operating software for Kaba magstripe and RFID electronic locking systems. Exclusively designed for after-hour requirements at military housing, these self-service kiosks operate continuously to encode and dispense a temporary keycard on demand when one is lost or stolen. The unit's software interfaces with the desk system to verify the user as a resident within the housing system.
Comprehensive research and data compared the initial price and operating costs of the kiosk over a 10-year period to a conservative number of service charges during the same period. The results are compelling with a Return on Investment that shows the K-COD 200 pays for itself in less than one year.
"With ongoing concern for housing security expenses and decreasing budgets, the kiosk self-service program is an extremely cost-effective solution as an alternative to solving the issue of lost or misplaced keycards" states Dale Mathias, vice president of mulmulti-housing sales.
A typical application for the K-COD 200 self-service kiosk is to dispense temporary keycards to residents during non-staffed operational hours or at satellite locations where constant staffing is deemed too costly. Residents use the touch screen technology to simply type their name, and then enter their PIN. Once the information is verified against the database, K-COD 200 issues a new temporary keycard.
Phase I of this kiosk program is available to the military market with Kaba applications and other magstripe keycard locking systems.
